Osmium isotopes fingerprint mantle controls on the genesis of an epithermal gold province

چکیده
Abstract The formation of crustal blocks enriched with gold (Au) deposits above subduction zones is intimately bound to the genesis and evolution magmatic-hydrothermal systems. A long-standing question, however, whether metal fertility these systems stems from distinct sources that are anomalously in Au or subsequent processes occurring during magma emplacement hydrothermal activity. Deseado Massif auriferous province southern Patagonia (Argentina) a unique place test contrasting hypotheses because Au-bearing mantle xenoliths indicate presence an underlying Au-rich lithospheric reservoir. However, direct geochemical links between source overlying crust remain be established. To address this prominent gap knowledge, we used sulfide Re-Os geochronology identify at Cerro Vanguardia, largest low-sulfidation epithermal Au-Ag deposit Massif. Pyrite high-grade quartz veins yielded isochron age 147.4 ± 2.9 Ma (mean square weighted deviates = 1.04, n 8) initial 187Os/188Os ratio 0.26 0.01, fingerprinting dominant control for Os and, by inference, Au. Our data provide linkage subcontinental deposits, supporting hypothesis pre-enriched domains may critical factor underpinning global-scale localization provinces.

Osmium isotopes and mantle convection.
The decay of (187)Re to (187)Os (with a half-life of 42 billion years) provides a unique isotopic fingerprint for tracing the evolution of crustal materials and mantle residues in the convecting mantle. Ancient subcontinental mantle lithosphere has uniquely low Re/Os and (187)Os/(188)Os ratios due to large-degree melt extraction, recording ancient melt-depletion events as old as 3.2 billion yea...

the central purpose of this study was to conduct a case study about the role of self monitoring in teacher’s use of motivational strategies. furthermore it focused on how these strategies affected students’ motivational behavior. although many studies have been done to investigate teachers’ motivational strategies use (cheng & d?rnyei, 2007; d?rnyei & csizer, 1998; green, 2001, guilloteaux & d?...

Genesis of the Western Samoa seamount province: age, geochemical fingerprint and tectonics
The Samoan volcanic lineament has many features that are consistent with a plume-driven hotspot model, including the currently active submarine volcano Vailulu’u that anchors the eastern extremity. Proximity to the northern end of the Tonga trench, and the presence of voluminous young volcanism on what should be the oldest (~5 my) western island (Savai’i) has induced controversy regarding a sim...
متن کاملControls on the solubility of rhenium in silicate melt: Implications for the osmium isotopic composition of Earth’s mantle
The solubility of Re and Au in haplobasaltic melt has been investigated at 1673–2573 K, 0.1 MPa–2 GPa and IW 1 to þ2.5, in both carbon-saturated and carbon-free systems. Results extend the existing, low pressure and temperature, dataset to more accurately predict the results of metal-silicate equilibrium at the base of a terrestrial magma ocean. Solubilities in run-product glasses were measured...
